More About the Subject of these Paintings

The Topiary Garden at the Generalife was designed by Francisco Prieto Moreno and finished in 1951.  More a romantic reimagining than historical reproduction, the spaces are defined by walls formed by trimmed cypress trees and a large cruciform pool inspired by Moorish gardens.

The Water Stair is a unique feature that dates back to the earliest iteration of the gardens and provides access to the highest portions of the Generalife. The space features railings topped with canals and is enclosed with an arcade of laurels making the stair a cool retreat on even on the hottest of days.
