More About the Subject of these Paintings
The Court of The River at the Generalife in Granada is named for the long central fountain that draws water from the Royal Canal (Acequia Real), the principal hydraulic source for the Alhambra. It is planted in a riot of perfume blooms that bring the space to life.
The Court of The Sultana is named for the setting of the imaginary love legend of Ginés Pérez de Hita. There are few settings more romantic than the large U shaped pool surrounded by roses with jets of water that fill the air with the gentle sound of splashing perfect for hiding the hushed conversations of lovers.
