More About the Subject of these Paintings

Calle Larios, one of the premier shopping destinations in Europe was inaugurated in 1891.  The majority of the street's buildings were designed by Spanish architect Eduardo Strachan Viana-Cárdenas, who was heavily influenced by the architecture of the city of Chicago.  At the end of the street stands a statue of Manuel Domingo Larios, the primary project stakeholder who was instrumental in organizing, funding, and executing the new mercantile street.

La Farola de Málaga, designed by naval engineer Joaquín María Pery y Guzmán in 1817.   As a result of redevelopment it now stands in the heart of the tourist port, flanked by Malagueta beach, the Real Club Mediterráneo yacht club, the cruise ship dock, and the Pier Uno shopping mall.
