More About the Subject of these Paintings
The water that flows through the taps of Granada are brought from far into the surrounding countryside. Engineering masterpieces like this aqueduct are reminders of the capacity of communities to overcome obstacles and work towards shared goals.
The Fuente Grande, also known as the Fountain of Tears captures water that emerges from the underground aquifer of the El Padul and La Peza mountain ranges. Water from the Fuente was channeled through the Acequia Aynadamar 10km to supply the Albayzín neighborhood of Granada starting in the 11th century.
